The Hatch Act
What is the Hatch Act?
The Hatch Act prohibits people from engaging in political activity on the job, using their office to affect elections, using their office to solicit campaign contributions, running for office in partisan elections, and engaging in political activities with someone doing business with their agency.
Why do I need Hatch Act Training?
If you or your teams violate Hatch, you can be fined, lose your job, and even be barred from working for the government for up to five years. What might seem like an innocent political discussion with a coworker, could result in harsh penalties, including reprimands, fines, removal from office, and even being barred from working for the government for up to five years.
